There came a point in my life when depths of despair almost swallowed me into total darkness Just like a thief in the night, it came to me in the most unexpected moment When things seem to be so rosy and calm, at a snap of a finger , all hell broke loose I lost my job, I lost that purchasing power, i lost most of my friends and I almost lost my mind Through all those long days and nights, there was one thing that got my sanity together in one piece Aside from my dearest wifey who was always there for love and comfort Are my kids who have always dropped a few kisses, hugs and soothing words of encouragement And a few good friends who stood by me through all those agonizing moments Photography became my refuge, my sanctuary and my safe haven Like a cave in the jungle, it offered me an abode and protection that sheltered me from harm and destruction Photography became my mouthpiece and showcase of my deeply wounded emotion and pride And, likewise, became a factual window and a porthole to the realities of life Photography became my SOLACE and my PASSION . . . . It saved my life and preserved my self-esteem And helped me touch the lives of others, as well . |
